Dermal Fillers Such as Radiesse®, and Juvederm®
Radiesse® is a soft tissue implant consisting of tiny microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) which is naturally found in the body. It is combined with an aqueous gel. This material is biocompatible as well as biodegradable.
The composition of the materials in Radiesse® is identical to the composition of the mineral portion of bone and teeth, making it safe to use; no allergy skin test is required.
Radiesse® is a semi-permanent filler and can last up to a year or longer, however it will vary from person to person. Touchup treatments may be required to maintain desired results.
Juvederm® is a stabilized hyaluronic acid in the form of a clear transparent gel, used in the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
After the first treatment, additional treatments of Juvederm® may be necessary to achieve the desired level of correction.
Juvederm® has been shown to be safe and effective when compared to collagen skin implants and related products to fill in wrinkles, lines, and folds in the skin on the face. Once the optimal location and pattern of cosmetic use is established, its effect can last 6 months or longer without the need for re-administration, however results can vary from person to person.
